General Andika's Response To The Death Of TNI Soldiers In Papua

JAKARTA - One soldier of the National Army (TNI) Sertu Ari Baskoro died after being shot by an armed criminal group (KKB) Papua. This brutal action occurred on Saturday, 20 November morning.

The Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa, said he would discuss the issue. Then, General Andika said he would evaluate the TNI's approach in dealing with the Papuan KKB.

"That is something that I will decide to change, according to what was said in the fit and proper test. Indeed, that is my plan," said General Andika at TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, Monday, November 22.

This was also conveyed by General Andika after being sworn in as Commander of the TNI. General Andika wants to treat Bumi Papua as other provinces in Indonesia.

Then, General Andika said that the TNI would be guided by Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the TNI in dealing with the Papuan KKB.

"Because we have observed. But we will take a different approach," said General Andika.

Andika hopes that a different approach will resolve the conflicts that have occurred so far. "I hope it will be more effective," said General Andika.

This incident began when the Papuan KKB attacked the headquarters of the Suru-suru Military District Command (Koramil), Yahukimo Regency, Saturday, November 20.

In this incident, two soldiers became victims. They were Sertuary Ari Baskoro, and Danramil Suru-suru Captain Inf Arviandi. Sertu Ari Baskoro died after being shot, while Arviandi was injured.
