BOYOLALI - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Boyolali Regency, Central Java Province, said that 36 houses in Repaking Village, Wonosamodro District, suffered light to moderate damage due to strong winds.

BPBD has recorded that 36 houses have been damaged by heavy rain accompanied by hurricanes or strong winds in Repaking Village, Wonosamodro District, Boyolali, on Thursday, November 4.

"The BPBD team has checked at the tornado disaster site in Repaking Village, Wonosamodro Boyolali District, on Thursday (4/11) night. We immediately followed up by sending emergency logistical assistance and cooking utensils to the disaster location, on Friday this morning," said the Head of BPBD Boyolali Regency Widodo Munir quoted by Antara, Friday, November 5.

However, the incident of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds or tornadoes in Repaking Wonosamodro Village was reported to have resulted in no fatalities.

He said the emergency logistical assistance from the BPBD was to anticipate helping people with a living allowance who were victims of the strong wind natural disaster. Emergency logistics, for food needs such as rice, cooking oil, instant noodles and others.

"We are also collaborating with the Social Service to help disaster victims for their needs for the next one to two days. So that, it can reduce the burden on the affected residents," he said.

His party has sent a team to the location, if it is necessary to follow up it will be coordinated with the local Housing Office which has the authority to repair the houses of residents affected by the disaster.

"Residents' houses that suffered heavy to light damage were caused by the hurricane, not because of flooding. Local residents have worked together to repair the victims whose roofs were damaged, namely the flying roof tiles," he said.

Nevertheless, his party appealed to the public to be more alert to strong winds, floods and landslides because information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geofosics Agency (BMKG) at the end of 2021 was predicted to enter a season of high rainfall or extreme weather.

"We urge the public to be more vigilant and anticipate the possibility of disasters caused by hydrometeorology, namely disasters whose impacts are triggered by weather and climate conditions with high rainfall, strong winds, floods and landslides.

"The anticipation is to cut down trees near houses that have the potential to fall on houses so that the branches are trimmed to reduce fallen trees. Check public facilities such as bridges if there is erosion of the foundation due to flood water and so on," he said.
