Sandiaga Brings Promise, Gateway For Foreign Tourists To Bali Promoted Through Tourism Exhibition In London

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said Indonesia's participation in the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2021 is part of preparing Bali to become a pilot project for reopening borders for foreign tourists.

In promoting Indonesia at the WTM event, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) carries the theme Wonderful Journal.

"The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has made WTM London 2021 a potential venue to market Indonesian tourism abroad, and to welcome back tourists," said Sandiaga Uno, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 1.

This effort is also a market expansion activity and maintains the existence of Indonesia as one of the main destinations in Southeast Asia for the UK market.

It is said that Indonesia will not only raise five super priority destinations (DSP): Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang which have been running since 2020. However, it will also respond to changes in the tourism business map that are influenced by changes in market demand and tastes.

The Indonesia CARE or I DO CARE program will also be highlighted to show that health protocols (prokes) are implemented in almost all series of tourist trips when entering destinations in Indonesia.

"This is the implementation of the three main strategies implemented in revitalizing the Indonesian tourism sector, namely innovation, adaptation, and collaboration," said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.

Sandiaga said that his party has prepared a totality for the Wonderful Journey that tourists will get when visiting Indonesia. Preparation includes things that allow tourists to continue to enjoy and explore safely while implementing the process system.

This is due to the pandemic situation that has changed considerations, behavior, and travel destinations. Thus, to respond to shifts in market demand, it is necessary to prioritize the safety of tourists.

The Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Nia Niscaya, stated that the main message highlighted at WTM London 2021 was the implementation of the CHSE (Cleanliness, Healthy, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability) protocol in every tourist destination and the #ItstimeforBali campaign to show Bali's readiness to accept foreign tourists.

He said his party had utilized a digital platform with the use of a QR code to make it easier for exhibition visitors to dig further information about the products and services of the Indonesian tourism industry

"Through a very challenging period last year, I believe the global community can't wait to travel and explore every corner of the world as soon as possible. We hope that the presence of Indonesia in WTM London can be an opportunity to get the latest information needed to plan a visit to Indonesia," said Nia.WTM is one of the largest tourism exhibitions in the world since 1980. In 2021, it will be held on a hybrid basis from November 1 to 3 2021, Excel Centre, London, and November 8-9, 2021 virtually.
