Stingray 'Monster' Successfully Caught In Batanghari River, Had Dragged Anglers To The Riverbed

JAMBI - A 'monster' stingray (Potamotrygon motoro) was caught by a resident of Tuo Hamlet, Pematang Jering Village, Muarojambi Regency on Friday, 29 last night. This fish was provoked in the Batanghari River, Jambi.

No kidding. The weight of this fish reaches 250 kilograms. The angler sells fish for Rp. 1.5 million to a fish trader at Pasar Angso Duo Jambi.

Rusli, the resident who caught the large stingray, said the money from the sale was distributed among 4 people for helping him when he was struggling against the monster ray.

Rusli said that his daily work as a traveling fish trader did not expect the price of stingrays to be sold directly for Rp. 1.5 million. The fish weighing 250 kilograms was the first time he got in the Batanghari River.

"After the stingray went viral, a fish wholesaler saw it and immediately bought it for Rp. 1.5 million and it will be sold again to the Angso Duo market," he said as reported by Antara, Saturday, October 30.

Bobi, a resident of Dusun Tuo who directly helped catch the fish, said that when the fish were about to be picked up, there was a mutual tug of war between the residents and a large stingray.

"In an effort to catch the large stingray, several residents had time to spear the stingray and until there were residents who were attracted to the river and luckily there were other residents who helped pull the fish and in the end the stingrays were immediately caught," said Bobi.
