JAKARTA - The police revealed the smuggling of 200 kg of crystal methamphetamine using corn sacks. This crystal meth comes from Myanmar.
Deputy Chief of Criminal Investigation of the National Police, Inspector General Wahyu Hadiningrat, said that the disclosure of the smuggling of methamphetamine was carried out by the Bareskrim Directorate of Narcotics Team together with the Bangka Belitung Police and Customs. The methamphetamine that is put in this corn sack is carried in containers.
"We succeeded in uncovering 200 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (via) international routes starting from Myanmar (to) Malaysia, then the Riau Islands-Bangka Belitung Islands then to Jakarta," Wahyu told reporters, Wednesday, July 29.
The smuggling of 200 kg of crystal methamphetamine was carried out by four people who are now named as suspects. The four of them have the initials SC, A, RS and YD. One other person with the initials K is still being hunted.
Disclosure of methamphetamine smuggling began with information received by the Bangka Belitung Police. The police traced information on drug shipments to Jakarta on July 21 until finally they found a storage place for crystal methamphetamine in a warehouse in Cikarang, Narat Java. =
"We found 73 sacks which contained 8 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine," said Wahyu.
From this first finding, the police tracked down about 400 sacks of methamphetamine that were scattered in several warehouses in Jakarta.
"These items come in a total of 400 sacks. Then 287 sacks went into warehouses around East Jakarta, then 60 sacks went to warehouses in the Ancol area, "he explained.
Meanwhile, from the suspect's examination, it was found that the perpetrator slipped a metal object into the sack. The goal is to make it easier to distinguish between the sacks that are smuggled in methamphetamine.
"In one sack there is a metal detector in it. "Sounds mean there is content," said Wahyu.
The suspects are charged under Article 114 of Law Number 35 Year 2009 on Narcotics with the threat of life imprisonment to death.
