Good News, Zero COVID-19 Death Cases In Batam In The Last 10 Days

JAKARTA - The Batam City, Riau Islands COVID-19 Handling Task Force recorded zero deaths from COVID-19 in the local area in the last ten days.

"So, in the last 10 days there have been no reports of positive COVID-19 deaths," said Batam City Health Service Head Didi Kusmarjadi in Batam, Friday, as reported by Antara.

The last reported death from COVID-19 was recorded on October 18, 2021, where one person died, bringing the total to 840 people.

"One person died on October 17th and one on October 18th," said Didi.

In the report from the Task Force distributed by the Head of the Batam Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) Office, Azril Apriansyah, it was stated that of the 840 cases of death in Batam, 432 of them were without co-morbidities, and 408 others with comorbidities.

It was noted that the highest comorbid diseases in COVID-19 deaths were diabetes mellitus as many as 215 cases, hypertension as many as 181 cases, and pneumonia as many as 104 cases.

Meanwhile, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in Batam City were 25.824 people, 24.978 of whom were declared cured, 840 people died, until there are only six active cases.

Of the six people who are still active with COVID-19, four of them are undergoing self-isolation, and two others are being treated at two local referral hospitals.

"The cure rate is 96.72 percent, the death rate is 3.25 percent, and active cases are 0.02 percent," said the COVID-19 Task Force report.

On this day alone, three additional people have been confirmed positive for COVID-19. All three are symptomatic cases.

There were also four additional people who recovered on Friday.

Azril Apriansyah said the spread of the coronavirus was relatively controllable and currently there are no more sub-districts with red zones.

In the buffer islands, of the three hinterland sub-districts, two of them are green zones, namely Behindpadang and Bulang. Meanwhile, Galang is in the green zone with someone who is still active with COVID-19.

On the main island, of the nine sub-districts, five of them are green zones, namely Sekupang, Lubukbaja, Batam City, Sei Beduk, and Sagulung. The other four sub-districts in the yellow zone are Batuaji, Batuampar, Bengkong, and Nongsa.
