BNN Karawang Arrests 2 DPO Drug Dealers

KARAWANG - The National Narcotics Agency of Karawang Regency confiscated about 26 kilograms of marijuana in the arrest of two Sumatra-Java national drug ring syndicates who have been on the wanted list.

"We have arrested the suspects RB and AN. Previously, the two people had DPO status (wanted list). Currently, we are still pursuing one more DPO," said the Head of the West Java BNN, Brigadier General Benny Gunawan, in Karawang as quoted by Antara, Friday, October 29.

He said that during the arrest the officers confiscated 26,805 kilograms of dry marijuana.

According to Benny, initially officers from the Karawang Regency National Narcotics Agency (BNNK) received information from the public that in Pejaten Village, Batu Jaya District, Karawang Regency, West Java, drug transactions often occur.

Based on this information, officers conducted an investigation for several days around the crime scene. Subsequently, raids were carried out.

"On Friday (17/9) at around 19.00 WIB, officers carried out a raid on the alleged perpetrators of narcotics abuse, but the perpetrators were no longer at the crime scene," he said.

During the raid, the Karawang BNNK officers found evidence of two plastic sacks containing marijuana.

Furthermore, BNNK Karawang officers carried out development and investigations.

"On Saturday (10/23) officers from the Eradication Team of the Directorate and Pursuit of the BNN RI and the Eradication Team of the BNNK Karawang secured the RB in Pejuang Village, Medan Satria District, Bekasi City," he said.

Based on information from suspect RB, BNNK Karawang officers also arrested suspect AN in Rengasbandung, Karangsambung Village, Kedungwaringin District, Bekasi Regency.

"The suspects RB and AN that we arrested were previously DPO status," he said.

For their actions, the two perpetrators were threatened with Article 114 in conjunction with 111 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2007 concerning narcotics abuse of class I, with a threat of 20 years in prison or the death penalty.
