How Anies Responds To COVID-19 Cases In Jakarta Increases Again
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the high number of positive cases of COVID-19 in the Capital City was due to the increasingly massive tests and specimen tests being carried out.
"Why is there such a high number in Jakarta? What the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is doing is conducting as many tests as possible, looking for positive people," Anies said in his statement, Wednesday, July 29.
Anies said, the strategy currently being carried out by the DKI Provincial Government is active case finding, in addition to accepting people who come to health facilities themselves to undergo examinations.
According to Anies, if Jakarta wants to reduce the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, it does not need to carry out tests and the COVID-19 number will automatically decrease.
However, if this is done, the condition of the COVID-19 case will become false. Because, the corona virus outbreak is still ravaging and transmission continues.
"Therefore, Jakarta has taken a strategy of looking for exposed people and then isolated, then the chains are cut," he said.
He continued, Jakarta had exceeded the standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the target examination. If the WHO requires a region to undergo 10,000 tests per 10 million population.
Within a week, DKI had carried out tests four times the standard. The count, currently, DKI has conducted 43,000 tests per week.
"From there, 6.3 percent were found to be positive. Well, this is 6.3 percent if they are not caught, they will transmit to even more," said Anies.
For information, the data on the increase in new COVID-19 cases released by the DKI Provincial Government is 584 cases and a total of 20,470. However, based on data held by the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), there are 577 new cases in DKI Jakarta today.
