Rupiah Weakened Slightly By 0.05 Percent To Rp14,542 Per US Dollar

JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate on the spot market weakened at the end of trading today. The rupiah closed down 0.05 percent or 8 points to a level of IDR 14,543 per United States dollar (US).

Until 15.00 WIB, the movement of the majority of currencies in Asia is in the green zone. The South Korean won is leading the way in the region's currency after adhering to 0.32 percent against the US dollar.

Followed behind by the Singapore dollar which rose 0.28 percent and the Japanese yen which strengthened 0.27 percent. Furthermore, the Malaysian ringgit lifted 0.18 percent and the Thai baht lifted 0.11 percent.

Next was the Chinese yuan, which rose 0.04 percent. Meanwhile, the Hong Kong dollar managed to slightly increase by 0.003 percent against the US dollar this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Taiwan dollar replaced the rupiah as the currency with the deepest weakness in the region this afternoon, after weakening 0.12 percent.

Next, the Philippine peso was eroded 0.01 percent as well as the Indian rupee, which weakened slightly by 0.005 percent against the US dollar.
