Padang City Government Will Develop Bat Caves As Tourist Destinations

PADANG - The Padang City Government will develop the Bat cave in Padayo, Lubuk Kilangan District as a natural and adventurous tourist destination.

"One of the flagship programs of the Padang City Government is to develop tourist destinations in the eastern region and the existence of bat caves in the Padayo area, Lubuk Kilangan has the potential to be developed," said Lubuk Kilangan sub-district head Elfian Putra Ifadi in Padang quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 28.

According to him, so far the Bat cave is visited by students, students and groups of nature lovers to cave explorers.

Bat Cave can be accessed from Lubuak Paraku and closer on the Padang-Indarung road to Lubuk Paraku.

To get to the Bat Cave can be reached on foot for about two kilometers via dirt roads.

Bat Cave is a tourist attraction that is still exotic with its characteristic that many bats hang in the cave.

Previously, the Mayor of Padang, Hendri Septa, during his visit to the Bat cave, assessed that the potential of the cave would be worked on so that the interest of the public to visit would increase.

According to him, Bat Cave can also be a tourist attraction because a number of outbound activities can be held.

“In one location, there are three tourist objects that can be visited. First, the Bat Cave, the Ngalau Air Ilang Cave, and the Ngalau Kambing, the point is that one unit must be mixed, he said.

For this reason, the Padang City Government will begin to make improvements by making entrance roads and bridges leading to the cave.

"Hopefully, with this new tour, it can be enjoyed and have an impact on the economy of the surrounding community," he said.

According to him, these improvements will make visitors more comfortable and the number of tourists will continue to increase.
