The Chairman Of KONI Asked The Indonesian National Team To Be Like South Korea

JAKARTA - The Indonesian U-19 national team will be the foundation for the U-20 World Cup in 2021. The hope is that Indonesia will not only be a joy. As the host, the Garuda Muda squad is targeted to penetrate the knock-out phase.

The task of creating a quality national team was given by the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) to coach Shin Tae-yong. The former coach of the South Korean national team is expected to form a squad that has extraordinary mentality.

The same hope was conveyed by the Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), Marciano Norman. He wants to see the Indonesian national team players have an unyielding mentality and excellent stamina.

"I want the Indonesian national team players to have an unyielding mentality and excellent stamina like the South Korean national team players," said Marciano when receiving a visit from Shin Tae-yong and several PSSI administrators.

Ketum KONI emphasized that Indonesia should not only be successful in hosting it. Of course, the public hopes that the Red and White squad can speak in this prestigious tournament. Marciano stated, KONI and all Indonesian people provide support to Shin Tae-yong and PSSI to bring the Indonesian national team to excel.

Meanwhile, Shin Tae-yong admitted that the mental and stamina of Indonesian players needed to be improved. This 51-year-old man even said that the level of the Indonesian national team would not develop if he only played at the Southeast Asian level. In addition, it also requires a good system.

The plan is for Shin Tae-yong to bring the Indonesian U-19 national team to train in South Korea. Not only training, the former Seongnam FC coach also scheduled trials with the club there. However, the plan to focus on training abroad is still a question mark given the COVID-19 pandemic that is still threatening.
