1,955 Joint Personnel Secures 2-Year Evaluation Demo Of President Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin's Leadership At The Central Jakarta Horse Statue
JAKARTA - Thousands of masses from various elements of workers who are members of the People's Labor Movement (Gebrak) will hold a demonstration at the Horse Statue, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir, Central Jakarta.
The demonstration was in the context of evaluating the two years of President Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin's leadership. The action is scheduled to start at 11.00 WIB at the United States Embassy.
The Head of Public Relations of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Sam Suharto, said that joint forces would be deployed to oversee the demonstration.
"A total of 1,955 joint personnel of the TNI, Polri and Provincial Government were deployed. All guarding is focused around the Horse Statue area," he said when contacted by VOI, Thursday, October 28.
Later, thousands of workers will walk (longmarch) to the Presidential Palace.
"The diversion of the flow is situational. At this time there are several mass actions that have gathered and are heading to the IRTI Monas," said AKP Sam.
Separately, Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Sambodo Purnomo Yogo confirmed that the closure of traffic flows around the location of the action was still situational.
"If the crowd explodes, it is possible that there will be closures around the Horse Statue later, then the Harmoni round, and at the United States Embassy, but look at the situation," he said when contacted by reporters, Thursday, October 28.
In this action there are 10 demands that will be submitted including:
1. Revoke Law Number 11 of 2019 concerning Job Creation and various derivative regulations.
2. Stop silencing people's critical voices
3. Stop the unilateral termination of layoffs
4. Stop violence and harassment against women
5. Complete investigation of the BPJS Employment corruption case and COVID-19 assistance,
6. Implement agrarian reform
7. Protect migrant workers
8. Free education
9. Stop repressive actions against people's activist movements
10. Stop liberalizing and commercializing education.
