COVID-19 Case Appears In School, Sultan HB X Asks For Quick Handling

YOGYAKARTA - The Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X asked that cases of COVID-19 transmission that appeared in a number of schools be handled quickly so that they did not become clusters.

"The important thing is that it is handled quickly, so it doesn't become a cluster," said the Sultan at the Kepatihan complex, Yogyakarta, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, October 27.

According to him, cases of COVID-19 transmission such as those that appeared in SMPN 2 Pakem, Sleman and at SDN Sukoharjo and SMKN 1 Sedayu, Bantul did not occur due to face-to-face learning, but were caused by student activities outside of school.

"Not from school, yes, but indeed from outside, carried away (to school)," he said.

Therefore, the solution is to ask students who are positive for COVID-19 to isolate at home. The Sultan also continued the implementation of PTM because the case was not caused by the school cluster.

"I think schools, local governments, have maximized. In the sense that not only vaccines, but schools have already prepared. We need to see whether OTG is from outside or from schools. If it's from school, it's closed, if it's from outside, how is it isolated. But right? average from outside," said Sri Sultan.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Education, Youth, and Sports Office (Disdikpora) DIY Didik Wardaya ensured that all schools at various levels in DIY had understood and complied with the provisions of the limited PTM implementation. His party will evaluate the implementation of PTM in five districts/cities in DIY.

"Of course we use it as an evaluation. Do we have to tighten health protocols in schools, that's what we do," he said.

In addition, Disdikpora DIY will also conduct random COVID-19 tests on students.

"Take turns, randomly. Sampling may be 10 percent of the number of students," he said.
