The Case Of Koja Residents Poisoned By Nasi Kotak, PSI: We Are Responsible, We Don't Run At All

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has confirmed that it will not run away from responsibility for the victims of the mass poisoning of boxed rice in Kampung Beting, Koja, North Jakarta.

Secretary of the PSI Jakarta Regional Management Board (DPW) Elva Farhi Qolbina said that there are still victims of boxed rice poisoning who are being treated at the Koja Regional General Hospital (RSUD).

PSI will also not interfere if you really want to report the problem to the authorities.

"We are responsible and do not run away at all regarding this issue," said Elva, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, October 27.

In that incident, 35 residents of Kampung Beting, Koja, North Jakarta experienced nausea and vomiting, allegedly after eating the boxed rice distributed by PSI North Jakarta.

As many as 23 people were treated at the Koja Hospital, but 18 people have been allowed to go home, so that the remaining five people are still being treated.

North Jakarta (Jakut) Mayor Ali Maulana Hakim said that most of the patients being treated at the hospital are children.

This was revealed by Ali when visiting five residents of RW 06 Koja Village at the Koja Regional General Hospital (RSUD), Tuesday, October 26.

Previously, PSI Acting Chairman Giring Ganesha apologized for the case of mass poisoning in Kampung Beting, Koja, North Jakarta, allegedly due to the rice box program distributed by his party.

This was conveyed when Giring visited the poisoned victim who was still being treated at the Koja Hospital on Monday, October 25 evening.

Giring said that the PSI DKI Jakarta cadres will continue to accompany a number of victims suspected of being poisoned by rice boxes distributed to residents of Kampung Beting, Koja, North Jakarta.

"We are here to really (show) there is a sense of sympathy and responsibility," said Giring.

In addition to apologizing, the DKI Jakarta PSI Regional Management will also provide compensation to the victims and will conduct an internal investigation of the North Jakarta PSI regional management cadres.
