Customer's Lawsuit Against Bank Mandiri Kudus Starts Trial

KUDUS - The Kudus District Court, Central Java, has begun hearing a lawsuit from a customer against PT Bank Mandiri Kudus Branch Office. This lawsuit is related to the alleged burglary of savings funds stored in the government's bank account worth Rp. 5.8 billion.

The inaugural trial, which was held in the Garuda PN Kudus Courtroom, Wednesday, October 27, was chaired by Ahmad Bukhari and member judges Galih Bawono and Rudi Hartoyo.

Ahmad Bukhari invited the plaintiff and the defendant to first mediate with an appointed mediation judge named Ziyad.

"You have to be serious in mediating. The next trial is waiting for the results of the mediation," he said as quoted by Antara. The spokesman for the Kudus District Court, Rudi Hartoyo, confirmed that the next trial was waiting for the results of mediation by both parties.

Based on the provisions, he said, the mediation deadline is 30 working days and the parties can request an additional 30 working days.

Meanwhile, the plaintiff's attorney, Musyaffak, admitted that he had spoken to legal counsel from PT Bank Mandiri that his client wanted to find the best way so that it could be completed without any loss.

"Our client does not want to be harmed in relation to his client's account which was allegedly burglarized in the amount of Rp. 5.8 billion on May 17, 2021 with a record of several transactions. The same goes for Bank Mandiri," he said.

Regarding his report to the Central Java Police, he said, it started with a complaint, then it became a report. The police are currently collecting evidence.

Plaintiff Moch Imam Rofi'i himself filed for compensation for material losses for the burglary of the plaintiff's account amounting to Rp5.8 billion. The immaterial (moral) loss is Rp. 50 billion.

Meanwhile, PT Bank Mandiri's attorney for the Kudus Branch Office, Eko Cahyo Purnomo, when met after the initial trial, refused to answer and got into the car and left.
