Maradona's Medical Treatment Very Bad, Lawyers: They Inflated That Poor Man Until His Heart Exploded

JAKARTA - Diego Maradona's former lawyer said on Monday that the medical treatment given to his client was very poor after testifying in an investigation into the Argentine football star's death.

"There was a lot of wrongdoing because Diego died, they inflated the poor man until his heart exploded", Matias Morla told reporters after more than three hours of testimony at the prosecutor's office in San Isidro, quoted by Antara from the official AFP website, Tuesday.

Authorities in the city on the northern outskirts of Buenos Aires are investigating the cause of Maradona's death.

"The medical treatment Maradona received was very bad, that's why he died", Morla added.

Maradona died of a heart attack on November 25 at the age of 60 while recovering from surgery to remove a blood clot in his head.

He also suffered from kidney and liver problems, heart failure, nerve damage, and addiction to alcohol and drugs.

The late football great was recovering at a private residence under the supervision of a seven-member medical team.

Team members have testified in the investigation to determine whether there was negligence or malpractice in Maradona's treatment.

Morla said that during his last visit to Maradona on November 16, he had a strange, robotic voice, very high and disjointed.

"I told everyone about Diego's condition", said Morla.

"I then realized it was because of the amount of water he was holding in his body."

The lawyer criticized the Maradona family's decision for him to recover outside the hospital.

"Maradona had no reason to go home when the doctor said he had to stay in the clinic", added Morla, who believes his client has been neglected by his daughter.

"But one thing is a moral responsibility and the other is a legal responsibility."

Maradona's two older daughters Dalma and Gianinna were accused in August of abusing Morla online.
