Russia Crazy! Death Case Reaches New Record, 1,106 Dies In One Day Due To COVID-19

MOSCOW - Russia on Tuesday, October 26 recorded its highest COVID-19 death toll, at 1,106 in a day amid a spike in new cases that prompted authorities to reimpose partial lockdown measures.

That number touched a new record in six of the last eight days. The COVID-19 task force also reported 36,446 new infections, compared to 37,930 the day before.

Russia will carry out nationwide workplace closures in the first week of November. Meanwhile, the capital Moscow will return to a partial lockdown from October 28, with only essential shops such as pharmacies and supermarkets allowed to operate.

Authorities blame the rise in COVID-19 infections and deaths on sluggish vaccination rates. President Vladimir Putin has ordered that recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine be given two days off in return. This was reported by Reuters from Antara.
