At The Batak Karo Protestant Church, Anies Wants DKI Residents To Be Grateful For Having A City That Facilitates Places Of Worship

JAKARTA - DKI Governor Anies Baswedan hopes that all Jakarta residents can be grateful to live in this city. A city that protects and supports all the construction of places of worship.

Governor Anies said this when laying the foundation stone for the construction of the Batak Karo Protestant Church (GBKP) Tugu, North Jakarta, Tuesday, October 26. He said, DKI facilitates spiritual activities of all elements of society so as to provide an equal feeling in supporting national unity.

"We want all elements of the community in Jakarta to feel grateful to live in Jakarta because it is facilitated for spiritual activities, including when building places of worship," said Anies.

"GBKP always sends a message of openness and that makes the existence of GBKP a good thing for various elements of society in Indonesia," he said.

The former Minister of Education and Culture added that Indonesia is a diverse nation.

However, he continued, what is great about Indonesia is not its diversity, but the combination of unity and diversity in Indonesia.

"Unity must be maintained by giving a feeling of equality and Jakarta is a home for all. Jakarta is a place for all to feel protected, including for worship activities," he said.

Every place of worship, he continued, provides an umbrella not only for the congregation in the house of worship but also for the community in the area of the place of worship because it is a unit that will continue to interact closely.

To the Batak Karo Protestant Church (GBKP) Tugu, he hoped the church construction process could be completed soon. Including the right quality, right time and right cost.

"Hopefully next year's Christmas can be used for worship," he said.
