Families Of Shooting Victims In Wamena Papua Sue The Police For Rp4 Billion And 30 Pigs
WAMENA - The families of the victims of the shooting demanded a customary fine from the Jayawijaya Police, the Papuan Police, amounting to Rp. 4 billion plus 30 pigs.
Jayawijaya Police Chief, AKBP Muh Safei said they asked for one month to prepare demands for fines from the family.
"Because the Polres is the person being prosecuted, we asked for one month to consolidate what we have to prepare. The family asked for Rp. 4 billion and 30 cattle (pigs)," said Muh Safei as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, October 26.
After preparations are made regarding the demands, the police will call the family again to negotiate regarding the ability to meet the demands of the families of the deceased victims.
"The perpetrators here are unscrupulous members and their salaries don't make sense if you say Rp4 billion, so that later we, the Jayawijaya Police, will bridge the gap," he said.
He said two members of the shooter would be involved in paying the fine. "We prepare money at least according to the ability of the two people charged. We (Jayawijaya Police) are helping," he said.
Pigs are valuable livestock for people in the central highlands of Papua, and these four-legged livestock are commonly used to solve various social or legal problems in this region, so the price of pigs is quite expensive compared to other livestock.
