Jokowi: We Must Take Momentum And Benefit From The COVID-19 Pandemic
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said that Indonesia must take momentum amid the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Apart from the economic impact, global geopolitical conditions also have an effect, such as the warming South China Sea and Sino-American relations.
"Therefore we must take the momentum, taking advantage of the current pandemic, of course we will continue to struggle to resolve the COVID-19 problem and the economic problems that are occurring in our country," said Jokowi as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 28.
The momentum in question is a change in how things work faster. This is done by courageously taking shortcuts, breakthroughs and cuts so that the government's work is not wordy and slow.
"In fact, the problem lies in our governance, too many regulations that shackle ourselves, too many procedures, too many stages, even though they can be direct but because of too much bureaucracy, we are trapped by the rules that we make ourselves. This is our big job. in the future, including the TNI and Polri and brothers who will later become leaders of the TNI and Polri, "he said.
Jokowi made this statement during the 2020 Joint Fighting Event Program (PKB Juang) which was held via video conference. The participants of the event were a combination of the Staff and Command School (Sesko) of the Secondary Level Staff and Leadership School (Sespimmen Polri) and Student Officers (Pasis) Sesko TNI and the Police High School of Staff and Leadership (Sespimti).
"I invite the participants to be brave in the future to give new and different nuances, to provide new and demanding thoughts and to find new, faster ways, to spur our subordinates to take a faster, smarter, short cut path. , who are goal oriented, "said Jokowi.
"The orientation is always results, the results we can see and can calculate. Of course even in normal conditions our way of working must still be result-oriented, must be fast, efficient because once again a fast country will win the competition, especially when we are in a difficult situation. , a crisis situation for both health and economy, "he added.
In addition, he asked the TNI and Polri to guard several agendas that were both urgent and important for the country.
"I have watched the changes to the new ways of working. I have told you how to work complicated and slow to change how fast works, from complicated regulations to regulations that are as simple and as few as possible, from convoluted SOPs (Standard operating procedures) to easy SOPs. and fast, "he said.
If this can be done, Jokowi believes that Indonesia can go through this difficult and difficult time and then we will enter into a new work culture when conditions have returned to normal.
"We hope that next year our economic position will recover, vaccines will be found and mass vaccination can be carried out to all the people in our country," he added.
