SEMARANG - A fake TNI member is suspected of deceiving several people in the city of Semarang into taking the victim's motorbike away.
Head of Criminal Investigation at the Semarang Polrestabes AKBP Donny Lumbantoruan said the fraud attempt by the suspect Handoko (37) from Lopait, Semarang Regency, was revealed after the victim reported it to the police. The fraud was carried out by the perpetrators in a restaurant.
"When he was at the shop, the perpetrator told him that he was a member of Kopasus," he said in Semarang, as reported by Antara, Monday, October 25.
To convince the victim, he continued, the perpetrator, who cut short hair, also wore pants with a TNI uniform motif.
According to him, the perpetrator then persuaded the victim to be allowed to borrow a motorbike to take money at an ATM.
"When borrowing the motorbike, the perpetrator did not return," he said.
From the results of the investigation, the suspect was finally arrested in the Terboyo Terminal area of Semarang.
In its development, at least three people have lost their motorbikes due to the suspect's modus operandi. For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 372 of the Criminal Code concerning embezzlement.
