Extortion For Parking Mode At Cimpago Lake Tourism Padang Beach Viral, Residivists, Allegedly Involved In Theft
PADANG - The Padang Barat Sector Police, Padang, West Sumatra, arrested the perpetrator who is strongly suspected of having made illegal levies (extortion) against visitors to the Padang Beach tourist area under the guise of parking fees.
The case carried out by ZG (22) had become a public concern, especially residents of the City of Padang because it was viral on social media.
"The perpetrator was arrested by the West Padang Police as a form of our response because this act has disturbed the public," said Padang City Police Chief Kombes Imran Amir in Padang, Antara, Monday, October 25.
The perpetrator of ZG was arrested by West Padang Police Sector personnel in a house in the Purus V area, West Padang District, Padang City, on Monday morning.
"Currently, we have secured the person concerned at the West Padang Police Station and has also been examined by members," he explained.
Meanwhile, the West Padang Police Chief, Kompol Martin, revealed that the perpetrator had confessed to his actions and pleaded guilty to making illegal levies on visitors to Padang Beach.
"When interrogated, the perpetrator admitted his actions. For the next legal process, we are still waiting for an official report from the victim," he said.
In addition to illegal levies, ZG, who is a theft recidivist, is also known to have stumbled upon a theft case in the jurisdiction of the North Padang Police. Currently, the West Padang Police are communicating to be followed up.
Previously, the perpetrator was arrested starting from the viral burglary on a number of social media that occurred in the Cimpago Lake tourist attraction, Padang Beach, last Saturday.
For this incident, the Padang Police Chief instructed the ranks to follow up on the incident and conduct an investigation.
On the other hand, the police will also coordinate with the tourism office and the local city transportation service to collect data on parking attendants to clean up illegal levies under the guise of parking fees in the Padang Beach area.
