Big Sanctions For Megakorupsi Ex Malaysia PM Najib Razak

JAKARTA - Former Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has been found guilty of all charges related to the corruption case of RM42 million or Rp143 billion from SRC International Sdn Bhd. Defenders are judged to have failed to present reasonable grounds.

The decision was presented by High Court Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali in Kuala Lumpur, Tuesday, July 28. Najib Razak was found guilty under Article 23 Paragraph 1 of the Corruption Eradication Commission (MACC) Act.

"In conclusion, in my judgment, after considering all the evidence presented in this court, I found that the defense did not succeed in refuting the allegations against the accused under Article 23 (1) of the MACC Law 2009," said Mohd Nazlan, quoted Antara.

All the allegations that ensnared Najib Razak are related to the RM42 million or Rp143 billion fund from SRC International Sdn Bhd. The company is a former subsidiary of 1MDB which is currently operating under the Ministry of Finance.

If convicted, Najib Razak will be punished in accordance with Article 24 which substantially arranges a maximum jail term of 20 years and a minimum fine of five times the value of corruption or RM10 thousand or Rp34 million, whichever is higher.

Until now, the media is still waiting for an official statement from the High Court, while Najib Razak together with UMNO leaders have not left the courthouse.
