Hundreds Of Residents Still Refuge Due To The Ambarawa Earthquake

SEMARANG - Around 200 residents are still taking refuge in several evacuation points after the earthquake that hit the Ambarawa area, Semarang Regency, Central Java and its surroundings from Saturday, October 23 to Sunday, October 24.

Central Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi directly checked the condition of the refugees, most of whom were children, in Pojoksari Village, Ambarawa District.

During his visit, Police Chief Ahmad wanted to ensure that the health protocols were carried out even though he was in a refugee location.

"Even in refugee camps, health protocols must continue," said Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi, quoted by Antara, Monday, October 25.

According to him, these residents only felt traumatized by the earthquake.

Meanwhile, Head of BPBD Semarang Regency Heru Subroto said that apart from Pojokdari Village, tents were also prepared in the yard of the Ambarawa Hospital to anticipate traumatized residents.

As for the results of the data collection, he continued, there were 33 houses affected by the earthquake shocks in the last two days.

"No collapse, just cracks," he said.

Previously reported, BMKG recorded a series of earthquakes in Salatiga, Banyubiru, Bawen, and Ambarawa Central Java Province since Saturday, October 23 at 00.32 WIB triggered by an active fault.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located at coordinates 7.296 South Latitude and 110.38568 East Longitude, precisely on land at a distance of 13 km northwest of Salatiga City with a hypocenter depth of 6 km.

The results of the BMKG analysis show that the earthquake had a magnitude of 3.0 followed by seven series of aftershocks, with a magnitude of 2.9 then 2.5 then 2.5 then 2.6 and 2.1 and 3.0 and 2.7 which occurred at 6:44.56 WIB.

BMKG recorded at least 31 aftershocks that occurred until Sunday afternoon.
