Vitamin Intake And Live Chickens 3-4 Per Day, The Condition Of Sumatran Tigers In The Jambi BKSDA Is Getting Better
JAMBI - The condition of the Sumatran tiger (Phantera tigris Sumatrae) undergoing rehabilitation at the Jambi BKSDA Wildlife Rescue Center (TPS) in Mendalo, Muarojambi, has begun to improve.
The protected animal was caught in a trap set by the Jambi BKSDA in Air Batu Village, Renah Pembarap District, Merangin Regency, Jambi, after a conflict with humans.
"For now, the condition of the tiger continues to be monitored daily through camera traps and is now willing to eat in large quantities compared to the initial admission to rehabilitation here," said Head of TU BKSDA Jambi, Teguh Sriyanto in Jambi, Antara, Monday, October 25.
The condition of this animal is also still in the observation stage and its development is monitored. Doctors also have not done direct anesthesia with animals waiting for their condition to return to health.
"In general, the condition has improved, the response to us when we come is good, yesterday it was still weak, now it seems that people have immediately responded and can eat 3-4 chickens plus vitamins," said Teguh.
"This tiger food is always given in the form of live, not meat, such as chicken and yesterday we were given a live rabbit and we try to keep it like in nature so that it can prey or catch itself and can be eaten immediately," said Teguh Sriyanto.
Regarding food, BKSDA was also asked not to ration it. If the tiger is hungry, it is immediately given food so that its stamina recovers quickly.
"Seeing his current condition like that, it's impossible to recover in a short time, we have to be gradual as well and now the response is good, seeing people have started to show their dislike and directly with voices and all kinds of things, hopefully in this week we can be sedated," he said. .
