Pontianak City Government Holds Free Marriage Isbat, Most Couples From North Pontianak
PONTIANAK - The Pontianak City Government, West Kalimantan Province held a free marriage certificate service and registration of marriage certificates and birth certificates at the Grand Mujahideen Mosque in a series of commemorating the city's anniversary.
"Integrated services for mobile courts of religious courts or sharia courts in the context of controlling marriage, birth and marriage certificates," said Pontianak Mayor Edi Rusdi Kamtono at the Mujahidin Grand Mosque, Antara, Monday, October 25.
He explained that the government provides free marriage services because there are still people whose status is married but do not have marriage documents because they cannot pay the document processing fees.
"One of the obligations of local governments through the Department of Population and Civil Registration is to provide legal certainty over population events and important events experienced by their citizens," he said.
Head of the Population and Civil Registration Office of Pontianak City Erma Suryani said the beneficiaries of the free marriage ritual service at the Grand Mujahideen Mosque were 100 couples from West District, East District, Southeast District, South District, Pontianak City District, and North Pontianak District.
"The most participants are from North Pontianak District, as many as 30 pairs," he said.
