Kuansing Regent's Detention Room Searched, KPK Detention Center Officers Couldn't Find Communication Equipment

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the detention room of the Inactive Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Andi Putra on Saturday, October 23. The search was carried out after an upload on Facebook in the name of the alleged bribery suspect for the plantation permit

"KPK Detention Center officers immediately searched the detention room and did not find any communication equipment," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, to reporters, Monday, October 25.

During the search, Andi was examined and stated that he had never used a cell phone or cellphone. Not only that, he also signed a statement stating that he was not the one who wrote the status on the social media account.

Furthermore, Ali ensured that all KPK detainees were prohibited from carrying electronic devices including cellphones. This is in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6 of 2013.

In addition, he also ensures that security officers always monitor the prison 1x24 hours and have lots of surveillance cameras. "KPK also examines in detail and in layers every detainee who will enter the KPK Detention Center," he said.

"Therefore, related to postings on the social media accounts of KPK detainees, it is possible that it was done by other people," Ali added.

In the upload, a Facebook account named Andi Putra Kuansing uploaded a photo of a meeting between the Acting Regent of Kuansing Suhardiman Amby with a number of parties he called politicians and private parties.

In addition, this account also apologizes to the Kuansing community for disappointing them after they were caught in a sting operation (OTT) some time ago. "I personally apologize for disappointing the Kuansing community. Please pray for and support me so I can return to Kuansing. Hopefully (detained) for only 20 days and the KPK is just making it up and has no evidence," the account uploaded was quoted as saying.

Previously reported, the KPK named Andi Putra and General Manager of PT Adimulia Agrolestari, Sudarso as suspects in the bribery case for plantation permits. This case began when PT Adimulia Agrolestari applied for an extension of the Cultivation Right (HGU) starting in 2019 and ending in 2024.

The proposal stated that each company must build a partnership garden of at least 20 percent of the HGU in the Kuansing area. However, the company actually made it in Kampar Regency, not in Kuansing Regency.

Even so, Sudarso still submitted a letter of application to Andi to approve it. However, the agreement was reached with the provision of money twice, namely in September of Rp. 500 million and October of Rp. 200 million.

As a result of this action, the KPK then named Andi and Sudarso as suspects. The two suspects were detained in two different places, namely the KPK Detention Center at the Jaya Guntur Pomdam Branch and the Red and White Building.
