The Perpetrator Of The Stabbing Of The Imam Of The Mosque After Prayer In Pekanbaru Is A Suspect
JAKARTA - The police have named IM (24) the perpetrator of the stabbing of the imam of the Pekanbaru mosque as a suspect. IM stabbed Yazid Umar Nasution after leading the Isya prayer at the Al Falah Mosque.
"It has been named a suspect," said Pekanbaru Police Chief Kombes Nandang Mu'min Wijaya when confirmed by VOI, Tuesday, July 28.
The perpetrator was charged under Article 338 in conjunction with Article 53, a subsidiary of Article 351 of the Criminal Code concerning persecution. "About attempted murder and ill-treatment with a maximum sentence of 15 years," he continued.
The stabbing took place on Thursday (27/7) night when mosque imam Yazid Umar Nasution was leading a prayer after the evening prayer. Suddenly a man in a blue shirt came from the side of the pulpit.
Meanwhile, from the CCTV footage, it appears that the perpetrator tried to stab the victim while he was looking down and praying. The perpetrator stabbed the knife right into the chest of the mosque imam.
