Refugees Victims Of Liquefaction In Sukabumi Begins To Be Attacked By Disease

SUKABUMI – The refugees who were victims of liquefaction began to be attacked by a number of diseases. PMI Sukabumi Regency together with health workers from the Purabaya Health Center attempted to carry out an examination in Cigulusur Village.

"More than 20 refugees that we checked for health ranging from children, teenagers, adults to the elderly. Most of them have started to get sick, although their illness is still mild," said the Disaster Management Staff of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Sukabumi Regency. Refugees from RT 01/01, Margaluyu Village, Purabaya District, on average experience itching, stomach ailments, to high blood pressure or hypertension. Then there are also residents who complain of fatigue and aches because they have to sleep and rest on makeshift mats in the evacuation area.

According to Dikdik, survivors of the ground movement disaster who have started to get sick have been given medicine to relieve the symptoms of their illness, as well as giving vitamins to maintain their health condition.

In addition to conducting health checks, PMI has also prepared a number of personnel and equipment to support operations as well as four-wheeled vehicles that can be used at any time to evacuate residents.

Then logistics in the form of food have also been prepared to be given to residents affected by the disaster, no less important is PMI still urging residents to continue to apply health protocols in evacuation centers because currently it is still a pandemic with the aim of anticipating the spread of COVID-19 in disaster locations.

"We also distributed masks to refugees and we hope that residents will continue to apply health protocols while in refugee camps. Do not survive a natural disaster but become a victim of COVID-19 transmission," he added.

He said that in carrying out humanitarian operations in land movement disaster areas, of course, his party always coordinates with the Sukabumi Regency BPBD and security officers from the TNI and Polri as well as cooperates with other institutions/communities.

Temporary data from the Sukabumi Regency BPBD, the number of affected residents is eight families or 25 people and houses six units. Then, 18 families or 29 people are threatened with land movement disasters and nine units of houses. This incident data is still temporary because the relevant officers will update it every day.
