Not Wanting To Retire From The Portugal National Team, Cristiano Ronaldo: I Like To Make People Happy

JAKARTA - Cristiano Ronaldo confirmed that he is still not thinking about retiring from the Portugal national team and is still motivated even though he is 36 years old.

In September, Ronaldo even set an individual record as the all-time leading goalscorer at international level with 111 goals.

Ronaldo surpassed the record 109 goals of Iran legend Ali Daei which has stood since 2006.

Ronaldo insists that he is still hungry for achievements ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar which will be held in December.

"Why should I retire now? I don't think this is the time. This is not something other people decide, it will be my personal choice," Ronaldo told Sky Sports quoted by ANTARA.

"The moment (I decided to retire) was when I felt I couldn't run, dribble, kick, when I didn't have the strength to carry on. However, I still have that ability, so I want to continue it. I'm still motivated."

"That's the main word – (motivated) to do my job, to make the people, family, fans and myself happy. I want to put myself on an even higher level.”

“You talk about Portugal, but in the Champions League I scored the most goals, the most wins, the assists… everything.”

"I want to continue. I like playing football. I like to make people happy," he concluded.

Ronaldo proved his word recently after helping United come back after falling two goals down against Atalanta in the Champions League.

The player nicknamed CR7 will be relied on by Manchester United again when they host their rivals, Liverpool at Old Trafford in the English Premier League on Sunday, October 24.
