Juanda Airport Surabaya Is Now Able To Accommodate 8.7 Million Passengers

JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) is committed to continuing to develop Juanda airport in Surabaya, East Java.

President Director of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) Faik Fahmi said, Terminal 1 of Juanda Airport Surabaya previously had an area of 67,000 square meters with a capacity of 6 million passengers per year. And now, after development, it has increased to 91,700 square meters with a capacity of 8.7 million per year.

"Angkasa Pura I is committed to continuing the development of various airports under its management to maintain the level of service for airport service users. This time, the development of the first phase of Terminal 1 of Juanda Airport Surabaya has been completed," he said in a written statement, Saturday, October 23.

Faik hopes that the completion of the expansion of Terminal 1 of Juanda Airport can maintain the reliability of Angkasa Pura I airport services, especially for aircraft passengers.

Faik said that the completion of the expansion of Terminal 1 of Juanda Airport in Surabaya has increased the commercial area to 7,680 square meters from the previous 6,250 square meters. Of course, said Faik, increasing the area of the waiting room to 19,940 square meters from the previous 16,340 square meters. The expansion of the waiting room, Faik said, one of which is a children's area or playground as much as 2 areas.

In addition, there is an increase in the number of escalators to 8 units from the previous 6 units, elevators to 16 units from the previous 6 units, travelators to 19 units from the previous 6 units, Gate from 12 to 14.

Domestic departure flow adjustment

Faik explained that the completion of the expansion of Terminal 1 at Juanda Airport will certainly make Terminal 1 undergo adjustments to the domestic departure flow such as the departure platform or lobby as it is today. And still checking or validating health documents as a condition of flying by using the Peduli Protect application in the lobby area.

Then, continued Faik, prospective passengers heading to the new terminal lobby to enter the check-in area are now moved to the new terminal. Then, after checking-in, passengers pass through the old ex-check-in counter area, continue up the escalator to go to the existing waiting room. This flow adjustment has been implemented since last October 20.

Regarding supporting facilities for implementing health protocols, the manager of Juanda Airport Surabaya provides three PeduliLindung self-check kiosks that make it easier for prospective passengers to validate health documents. This facility complements the previously provided services, namely antigen test facilities and vaccination centers.

For the self-antigen test, a drive thru service is currently available at a cost of Rp. 88,000 which is located in the 4 Wheel parking area of Terminal 1.

"In order to anticipate the density and distance that passengers will travel on this new departure route, prospective passengers are encouraged to arrive at the airport about 3 hours before departure time," he said.

In addition, said Faik, prospective passengers are also advised to continue to comply with the applicable health protocols and re-assure the travel requirements to the destination city so that the trip will be more comfortable.
