Mahfud MD Instructs Pinjol Victims To Report To The Witness And Victim Protection Agency (LPSK)

JAKARTA – Victims of illegal online loans (pinjol) are expected to immediately report to the police and the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK). This statement was delivered directly by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD.

Mahfud MD also appealed to people who were caught in illegal loans to complain about their problems. According to him, victims must have the courage to report to the authorities so that they can get protection.

“Then the victims have the courage to report, the police will provide protection. Even if it is related to more specific protection, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency can provide it as an instrument of law," Mahfud said at a press conference on Friday, October 22.

It is said that LPSK will provide protection to the victims of borrowing. In addition, the Deputy Chairperson of the LPSK Achamdi stated that his party had coordinated with the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency and a number of related parties. His party also admitted that they were investigating the problems of the victims of illegal lending.

He instructed the public to apply for protection to the LPSK first. Because the agency has a number of ways to submit an application. Victims of borrowing can come directly to LPSK, can also contact via email, or contact call center 148. Achmadi added that his party is ready to provide protection to witnesses and victims.

"For this reason, once again we are ready to provide witness and victim protection in the criminal justice process in accordance with the provisions of the legislation," said Achmadi.

Meanwhile, the police have only uncovered 13 cases of illegal borrowing with 57 suspects. All of these cases are located in various cities in Indonesia and will be investigated further.
