Santri And Kiai Have A Big Role In Accelerating Vaccination In Solo, Gibran: Solo Drops PPKM Level 2
JAKARTA - The Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, appreciates the role of students and kiai regarding the achievement of vaccination in Solo, Central Java, which has reached more than 200 percent of the total target.
"The bottom line is that the achievement of vaccination in Solo is an important role for kiai and students to invite Solo residents to come to the vaccine site," said President Jokowi's son at the 2021 National Santri Day commemoration ceremony in Solo, Friday, October 22.
He said the support from the kiai, the elders of the boarding school, and the students was big enough to encourage the residents of the cottage to be vaccinated.
Because of that, the commemoration of this year's National Santri Day has been carried out through a ceremony directly in the area. Although the number of participants still has to be limited.
"Solo has gone down to (PPKM, ed.) level 2, so today we got the opportunity to have a ceremony at the Solo City Hall even though the number of students is still limited," he said.
The Surakarta City Government noted that up to now all students aged 12 years and over in Islamic boarding schools in Solo City have been vaccinated with two doses. The student vaccination is included in the vaccination category for 76,000 students in the city of Solo.
He said that the vaccination of the students had been completed following preparations for the face-to-face learning (PTM) some time ago.
Head of the Surakarta City Health Office (DKK) Siti Wahyuningsih said the vaccination of students had been completed, including for the students.
"The technical implementation is carried out on the basis of Islamic boarding schools in Solo. So even though the students are from outside Solo, they still get vaccine injections, for recipients who are over 12 years old," he said as quoted by Antara.
