Doni Monardo Could Not Confirm The Peak Of COVID-19 Spread In Indonesia
JAKARTA - Head of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Doni Monardo said that his party could not confirm when the peak spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia would be. This is because the number of additional cases in each area fluctuates so that the peak of the spread cannot be predicted.
"We do not yet know when the peak will arrive because we see developments in areas where there is a decline and an increase. This is fluctuating," Doni said in a press conference broadcast online on the Cabinet Secretariat YouTube account, Monday, July 27.
However, the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) emphasized that COVID-19, which has now infected millions of people in the world, is a real and dangerous threat.
"COVID is a very dangerous virus. On occasion I often say, I'm sorry, if this is a bit harsh. COVID is like an angel of death," said Doni.
He hopes that there will no longer be people in Indonesia who consider COVID-19 as a disease of engineering or conspiracy. "The number of victims around the world reached 600 thousand people. The whole society must be aware that this is not a conspiracy, not fabrication," he said.
"The history of the Spanish flu that hit our homeland in 1918 should be used as guidelines and lessons," he added.
Previously, President Joko Widodo predicted that the peak of the spread of COVID-19 would occur in August or September. He conveyed this belief because he saw the number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia.
"If you look at the figures, the peak estimate will be in August or September. The final estimate," said Jokowi some time ago.
But before that, President Jokowi had also given his prediction regarding the peak of the spread of this virus in the community. He said, COVID-19 is likely to reach its peak in May so that July begins to decline.
