Police To Hold Case For Rachel Vennya Fleeing Quarantine From Wisma Atlet
JAKARTA - The police stated that they would immediately conduct a case in the case of Rachel Vennya's escape from Wisma Atlet, who allegedly violated the rules related to health protocols (prokes). A new case will be held after the examination of witnesses.
"Because this is still an investigation, we are still taking witness statements later. After that, we will carry it out," said the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Yusri Yunus, to reporters, Thursday, October 21.
The title of the case is to determine whether there is a criminal element. If the criminal element is fulfilled, the status of the case will be upgraded to an investigation.
There are two rules that Rachel Vennya allegedly violated, namely the Disease Outbreak and Quarantine Act. Where, there is a prison sentence in the regulation.
"There is an allegation that the person concerned is not quarantined. That's why the alleged suspect article is in the article on the Disease Outbreak Act and the Health Quarantine Act. The threat is 1 year in prison," said Yusri.
Rachel Vennya is known to have run away while undergoing quarantine at the Wisma Atlet COVID-19 Emergency Hospital (RSDC) after a vacation from abroad.
Kodam Jaya as the Command of the COVID-19 Integrated Joint Task Force delegated the case of Rachel Vennya's escape to the Police.
During the investigation process by the Jaya Regional Military Command, it was found that an individual member of the TNI who served in the Security Task Force at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, allegedly arranged for the Rachel Vennya program to escape quarantine after returning from abroad.
