Maurizio Sarri Becomes The Oldest Coach To Win The Scudetto

JAKARTA - Juventus has just won the ninth straight Scudetto. Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri cannot hide his happiness in winning his first Italian League title.

The Bianconeri beat Sampdoria 2-0 through goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Federico Bernardeschi on the evening of Sunday, 26 July. The win leaves Juve with 83 points, the number of points that their competitors in the standings cannot catch.

For Sarri, this achievement is his first major title after he previously won the Europa League at Chelsea. Saari became the oldest coach to win the Scudetto, namely 61 years and six months.

"This is of course a special feeling. This (League) is difficult to win, it is even more difficult to keep winning, because accepting an award in this sport is the biggest lie in the world," he told Sky Sport Italia.

"It's not something easy. It's been a long, tough and stressful journey and the squad deserves credit for continuing to find the hunger and determination to keep going after eight straight wins," he added.

After the long whistle sounded, Sarri immediately ran towards the changing room. He left the field trying to avoid being splashed with water.

"Because (the water splash) will definitely be done, but I can't avoid it," said Sarri.

Juve became the first club in Europe's top five leagues to win nine consecutive titles.
