Anies Baswedan Reminds Parents Not To Take Their Children Out Of The Home Like During Car Free Day
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan asked parents to take responsibility for their children by not taking them out of the house amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This must be done considering that children are a vulnerable group infected by this virus.
"Be a responsible parent. Who is aware that children have risks," Anies told reporters in Jakarta, Sunday, July 26.
Even if you take children out of the house, he said, it is enough to do it around the house or housing complex and you must still apply health protocols.
"If you just bring the children in the neighborhood near the house, in the village, in the complex, so it is much safer than being taken out," he said.
Furthermore, he reminded parents not to take their children to cycling areas, including in the Sudirman-Thamrin area which is usually used for Car Free Day activities. As for adults, Anies reminded them to keep wearing masks even though they were cycling.
"What is important is for people who come out to keep wearing masks," said the former Minister of Education and Culture.
As for the enthusiasm of the people who do sports on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin, he sees that the community has been orderly in carrying out health protocols using masks. Anies said this must be maintained.
In addition, he mentioned that the number of people cycling in the area is now smaller. This is because there are 30 cycling locations that have been opened so that they are not concentrated on the two roads.
"There are 30 locations spread not only on Jalan Sudirman and Thamrin. Then we see that the volume of the number of people on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin has become small even though there are still many people but far less than before," he concluded.
