Champions League: Inter's Destiny

JAKARTA - Simone Inzaghi insists Inter Milan must be able to take advantage of opportunities when hosting Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League Group D match at the Giuseppe Meazza, Wednesday morning.

This season, Inter is yet to score in two Champions League games although statistics say they have created the most chances among the teams in Europe's top five leagues.

"I am aware of those statistics. My team always creates a lot of chances, we have the best attack line, but unfortunately conceded too many," said Inzaghi as quoted by Antara from Inter's official website, Tuesday.

"We have to be strong in possession against the Sheriff and take the chances we create."

Inzaghi insists tomorrow's match will determine Inter's fate in this season's Champions League.

Inter currently occupies third place with one point, while the Sheriffs who have a full six points topped Group D standings.

The quality of the Sheriff's counterattack will be the thing that Inzaghi is most wary of.

"The Sheriff didn't win the first two games by chance. They will be full of confidence," he said.

"They defend deep, are very organized, and have dangerous players on the counter-attack. We have to play well in attack, but it's also important to defend the defensive structure."

"This will be a crucial match for our season in the Champions League," concluded Inzaghi.
