VIDEO: Red and White Do not Fly in the Thomas Cup, the Ministry of Youth and Sports Wants to Accelerate the Lifting of Sanctions

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Zainudin Amali, has formed a team tasked with accelerating the lifting of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) sanctions against the Indonesian Anti-Doping Agency (LADI).

The formation of the team also responded to the absence of the Red and White flag in the medal handover procession when Indonesia won the 2020 Thomas Cup at Ceres Arena, Aarhus, Denmark, last Sunday night.

The ban from flying the Red and White at the Thomas Cup marks the first time WADA's sanctions against LADI have been officially enforced since a letter of warning regarding non-compliance with the doping test program was issued earlier this month.

In addition to accelerating so that WADA's sentence is immediately revoked, the team is also tasked with investigating issues related to LADI's non-compliance with the doping test rules so that it fails to meet the minimum test sample threshold.

This team is chaired by the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) Raja Sapta Oktohari and assisted by the Secretary-General of the KOI, two representatives from LADI and the parent of sports that often participate in international championships, and one representative from the government or the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
