Psychologist: The Burdens Of Suicide Metro TV Editors Should Not Be Underestimated
JAKARTA - Forensic psychologist, Reza Indragiri, said that the burden of thoughts that triggered the suicide attempt of Metro TV editor Yodi Prabowo could not be taken lightly.
Moreover, before dying, Yodi had asked his lover, Suci, what if he was not there. In that sense, he asked for a sacred response about the possibility of Yodi's life ending.
"Perhaps, people underestimate such words. But from a psychological perspective, these sentences are a sign of thoughts about suicide. This kind of thinking should not be taken lightly," Reza said when contacted, Saturday, July 25.
Reza said, in a study by the World Health Organization (WHO), about 60 percent of the transition from thoughts of suicide to planning suicide, then progressing to the manifestation of suicide, took place within 12 months, since the thought appeared for the first time.
"The swiftness of the transition process sends a message that the public must be more serious about taking statements about suicide that are raised by anyone," said Reza.
Moreover, in the forensic examination of Yodi's body, it was also found that he had taken amphetamines. Amphetamines are substances in drugs that can affect the nervous system in humans. The effect of taking amphetamines is a sense of calm, pleasure, and courage.
In addition, before ending his life, Yodi was stated to have consulted a doctor for skin and venereal diseases and then underwent an HIV test. This is what triggers Yodi to kill himself by repeatedly stabbing his chest and slashing his neck.
"In the case of suicide with a mode that causes a lot of injury, we must be aware of comorbidities," said Reza.
"That means, there are several conditions that occur simultaneously in one individual. For example, depression and drug abuse. The effect on the risk of suicide will also be higher," he added.
As is known, Yodi was found dead on Friday, July 10 on the side of the JORR Toll Road, Ulujami, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta. Yodi was found dead by suicide after three days of missing. The witness found Yodi's body wearing a green jacket, black pants, black sling bag, wearing shoes and still wearing a helmet.
From the results of the examination, Yodi died from stab wounds to his chest and neck. The Polda Metro Jaya forensic laboratory has examined the fingerprints and DNA on a knife found around Yodi's body.
From the results of the examination, it was found that only the victim's fingerprints and DNA were found on the knife. After being traced, it turned out that Yodi himself had bought a knife as a tool to end his life.
