Have Any Information Regarding Djoko Tjandra? LPSK Ready To Protect You
JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) is ready to protect witnesses who are threatened, have information, and want to open their voices regarding the fugitive claim rights case (cessie) Bank Bali, Djoko Tjandra.
"This is no exception for the case of travel papers which are known to involve a number of high-ranking officers within the Police, where reportedly the Bareskrim Special Team has examined a number of witnesses," said Deputy Chairman of LPSK Susilaningtias.
In fact, he continued, if there is a justice collaborator (JC), LPSK is ready to accept it.
He said that if a request comes in, the LPSK ensures that the witnesses get security, in addition to obtaining their rights according to the applicable law.
"This is given the importance of the role and testimony of witnesses in uncovering alleged criminal cases that are currently in the public spotlight. These types of protection will be given to witnesses based on the forms of threats that exist," he said.
In addition to diluting public trust in the legal apparatus of Indonesia, he views that Djoko Tjandra's act of being free to enter and exit neighboring countries has the potential to cause problems in diplomatic relations with the two neighboring countries which have been running harmoniously.
"Law enforcement officers under the auspices of the government must work together to pursue Djoko Tjandra. Maybe we can maximize the extradition cooperation agreement with Malaysia and Papua New Guinea to return the person concerned to his homeland," said Susi.
He also said that the settlement of the Doko Tjandra case was a big bet for law enforcement in Indonesia.
According to him, with the arrest of Djoko Tjandra, the public's trust in law enforcement officials will return to normal.
In addition, he also hopes that the Djoko Tjandra case can become a momentum for evaluating law enforcement agencies.
"This step has been taken by the Chief of Police to his subordinates, hopefully it will not stop at internal settlement but will continue to the criminal realm," said Susi.
Therefore, he said, LPSK supports efforts to hunt down Djoko Tjandra so that his cases can be completely uncovered.
"The LPSK itself will continue to monitor the progress of this case, but if there is an escalation regarding the threat of witnesses, it will immediately coordinate with the police," he said.
