Gibran Is Confused About Being Accused Of Dynastic Politics For Advancing In The Solo Pilkada
JAKARTA - The eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Gibran Rakabuming Raka, admitted that he was confused by the dynastic political accusations regarding his candidacy for Mayor of Solo in the 2020 Pilkada. Because, he considered, the public had the right to choose or not to choose himself without any coercion.
"So if the name is a political dynasty. Where is the dynasty? I am also confused when people ask questions like that," said Gibran in a webinar held by the PDI-P DPP, Friday, July 24.
He also emphasized that he would contest in the 2020 Solo Mayor Election. So, he had to fight to win the contest in order to win the votes of the people of Solo. "Yes, I'm participating in the contest. I can win, I can lose. I can vote or not," he said.
"So there is no obligation to vote for me and this is a contestation not an appointment," he added.
Furthermore, this businessman stated that the people of Solo also understood the meaning of political dynasty. Every time he meets the community, continued Gibran, he always provides an understanding of political dynasties and gets a good reception.
In the webinar, Gibran also explains why he became a regional head, even though he previously refused to enter the world of politics. According to him, by getting into politics, he could help many people with his policies.
"If I go into politics that I can touch in Solo, yes, 500,000 people through my policies," he said.
PDI Perjuangan brings Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a candidate for Mayor of Solo in the 2020 Pilkada which will be held on December 9. In the elections, he will pair up with Teguh Prakosa.
Gibran is the eldest son of President Jokowi who previously served as Mayor of Solo for two terms before finally becoming Governor of DKI Jakarta and winning the 2014 presidential election.
