Needdem: The 2024 Simultaneous Election Is The Most Complicated And Counterproductive
JAKARTA - A member of the Advisory Council of Needdem, Titi Anggraini, said that the 2024 General Election will be the most complicated general election in Indonesia's history. This is because this is the first time that the Pilleg, Pilkada, and Presidential Elections have been held at the same time.
"2024 will be the most complicated, most complex, election in Indonesia's electoral history due to the holding of legislative, presidential and regional elections in the same year. Even though the voting days are different months," Titi Anggraini said in an online discussion, Friday, October 15.
Moreover, Titi continued, there was a tug-of-war between the election organizers and the government regarding this complex electoral agenda. So, according to him, it will have a systemic impact and become a counterproductive debate.
"In fact, the beginning was a bit less conducive, yes, because of the tug-of-war on voting day, giving birth to dynamics that brought new controversy and speculation, and it was counterproductive," said Titi.
This, continued Titi, would certainly become a debate and lead to polemics.
"The implication is that in addition to being a question about the certainty of holding the 2024 General Election, he also brings controversy and speculation, widening to things that are not necessary," he continued.
In addition, said Titi, this is the first time that the government has made an offer or proposal in determining the schedule for the 2024 Simultaneous Election. Meanwhile, in the previous period, even since the reform era, no proposal has been heard from the government.
"In the end, this is counterproductive, because it was hoped that from the start we would be able to get certainty on the voting day and more mature preparations," he concluded.
