Coal Prices Soar, This Is The Archipelago's Batulicin Strategy Owned By Hipmi Mardani Maming In Facing High Demand

JAKARTA - Reference Coal Prices (HBA) continue to soar. This is due to the increasing demand for coal, especially in China, South Korea, and the European region.

The increase was also in line with the high price of natural gas, as a result of which the demand for coal exceeded the domestic supply capacity. In September 2021, the coal price was recorded at 150.03 US dollars per ton, then in October 2021, it continued to rise to penetrate 161.63 US dollars per ton, making the HBA the highest in the last 1 decade.

Director of PT Batulicin Nusantara Maritim (BESS), Yuliana, said that with the increase in the reference coal price, of course, the company owned by entrepreneur Mardani Maming was welcomed.

According to Yuliana, there is a lot of demand so that activities from upstream to downstream of the coal industry are getting busier and of course it requires good infrastructure to support these activities by the needs of countries that need coal.

"Hopefully this increase in coal prices is in line with the realization of the purchase of three sets of vessels consisting of new tugboats and barges or often known as barges by BESS. And we can maximize this potential and situation", she said in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, October 15.

According to Yuliana, the trend of increasing demand for coal commodities has made BESS as a coal carrier ship service provider company gain profits.

With the high demand in October and it is believed that it will continue to increase, of course, the coal transportation activities carried out by BESS will also increase. Yuliana said this would result in an increase in net profit in 2021.

"We hope that BESS will continue to contribute to the acceleration and growth of the Indonesian economy through this coal transportation service and become part of the history of the highest coal prices in the last decade", she said.

Yuliana also explained that the entire infrastructure owned by BESS with 15 sets of Tugboats and 15 Barges is being realized and the addition of 3 more sets of vessels is capable of transporting coal quickly and safely.

"BESS's human resources are always ready to support the process of transporting coal quickly, safely, and efficiently and providing added value to BESS service users", she said.
