JAKARTA - The strength of the West Java (West Java) contingent in the women's weightlifting branch on the last day of the Papua PON match was again inscribed by lifter Fitria Martiningsih. He successfully won a gold medal in the +84 kg weightlifting with a total lift of 677.5 kg, Thursday.
There is a story behind Fitria's struggle to defend and make the province of West Java proud in the PON Papua arena. For 9 months, she was not with her family, especially her husband. Not only that, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, he had to undergo training preparations for 2 years.
Feeling tired and separated from her husband for 9 months was completely paid off. Fitria won a gold medal at the XX Papua PON.
"I dedicate this gold medal to the coaches, the government and the people of West Java. Not only that, the medal that I won, I especially dedicate to my husband, who has not been together for 9 months," he said, launching the official website of PON Papua.
Behind the emotion and joy of winning the gold medal, Fitria couldn't cover her joy with her tears. “I am happy and proud to be able to win a gold medal in the PON event. This is the second gold," he said.
Meanwhile, lifter Lailatul Musyafaah (Central Java) who collected a total force of 602.5 kg only won a silver medal and lifter Rini Maisuri (Riau) who collected a total force of 580 kg won bronze.
