PSSI Will Continue To Woo Clubs That Object To The League 1 Competition To Be Continued

JAKARTA - The League 1 competition is almost certain to continue in October. The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has received permission from the government, in this case the COVID-19 Handling Task Force. A number of participating clubs have agreed.

However, several clubs still do not agree with PSSI's decision to roll out the competition. Persebaya Surabaya, Barito Putera and Persik Kediri stated that they did not agree because they were still worried about the COVID-19 pandemic.

PSSI Acting Officer (Plt) Secretary General Yunus Nusi said there had not been any discussions with the club who objected to the competition being continued. He stated, there has been no official letter from the club to PSSI.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of PSSI, Mochamad Iriawan, revealed to journalists that communication will continue. He admitted that he understood the objections of the clubs.

"We know there are several considerations that make them object to," Iriawan told reporters at the inauguration of the training ground in Bandung.

The man who is familiarly called Iwan Bule explained the reason why PSSI still wanted to continue the competition. According to him, there are bigger interests, one of which is from an economic perspective.

Previously, the PSSI Ketum had stated that it would implement strict health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19. A number of rules were set, including limiting the number of people and prohibiting supporters from coming to the stadium. Players and match officials and operators must also go through a swab test before starting a match.
