Erick Thohir: President Jokowi Appreciates The Transformation Carried Out By The Ministry Of SOEs
JAKARTA - SOE Minister Erick Thohir revealed that the transformation carried out by the Ministry of SOEs to make SOEs more professional, transparent, and accountable was appreciated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
"We are grateful for the appreciation from President Joko Widodo for the transformation that has been carried out by state-owned companies. Moreover, the transformation implemented is able to increase accumulated revenue and achieve the total net income of all SOEs which is the same as last year. Even though the situation is still a pandemic. We should be grateful for that, " said Erick in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Friday, October 15.
This was emphasized by Erick Thohir when repeating President Joko Widodo's statement in front of 20 selected BUMN President Directors which took place at the Inaya Hotel, Labuan Bajo, NTT, Thursday 14 October. The briefing which took place after the president inaugurated the unification of Pelindo in Way Kelambu, Labuan Bajo Port, was also attended by the First Deputy Minister of BUMN, Pahala Mashury, Deputy Minister of Industry 2, Kartiko Wiroatmodjo, and echelon one officials of the Ministry of SOEs.
President's briefing in front of 20 selected SOE CEOs, namely Pertamina, PTPN, Krakatau Steel, Pupuk Indonesia, Bio Farma, IFG, Perhutani, Housing Development (PP), Madani National Capital, and Semen Indonesia.
Then followed by PT Telkom, Bank Mandiri, Pelindo, Bank BNI, PT KAI, Telkomsel, Bank BTN, Bank BSI, Bank BRI, and PT ASDP as an award for the achievement of the transformation that has been carried out.
The state-owned companies are considered to be able to achieve the best results in the value of company profits, have a high social impact for the community, and have positive development plans going forward.
"This appreciation from the President is a continuous gift for us. Previously, the Ministry of SOEs achieved the highest achievement in implementing the merit system which was assessed by the State Civil Apparatus Commission. The transformation of ASN in the Ministry of SOEs also received an award and this proves that the changes that have been going on so far are on track. right. We will try to maintain and improve," said the Minister of SOEs.
Therefore, Erick Thohir hopes that the SOE directors will maintain the competitiveness value in line with the economic growth that the government continues to build.
"Don't rely on protection anymore, because competition is more open, and more oriented to go global. We will continue to maintain this mandate so that SOEs are always at the forefront in developing Indonesia," he said.
