Ignasius Jonan Officially Becomes Commissioner Of Unilever Indonesia
JAKARTA - PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk (UNVR) appointed Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) for the 2016-2019 period Ignasius Jonan to become the company's commissioner. The decision to appoint is taken at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS) of PT Unilever.
Director and Corporate Secretary of Unilever, Sancoyo An Interestedso said, apart from Jonan, the company also appointed Badri Narayanan as the Company's Director.
"At this AGM, the Company also announced the appointment of the Company's directors and commissioners. Unilever appointed Mr. Badri Narayanan as the Company's Director, and Mr. Ignasius Jonan as the Company's Commissioner," he said, in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, July 24.
Sancoyo said that the appointment of new directors and commissioners is an effort to reform the company so that it continues to grow by adhering to a strategy to carry out business operations based on strong social goals and missions, and to be prepared to face future challenges.
Furthermore, Sancoyo said, in the Company's growth so far, the board of commissioners has played a very important role, especially in order to remain relevant and able to continue to be at the forefront of challenging situations.
It is believed that Jonan's appointment will bring the company to better understand the national market, continue to grow stronger, and have a positive impact on the ecosystem and the surrounding environment.
Sancoyo said, Jonan has extensive experience as a leader in various high-achieving institutions and institutions such as Citibank, PT Bahana Indonesia Business Development (Persero) and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero).
Not only that, Jonan also has his experience in the government sector as Minister of Transportation for the 2014-2016 period and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources for the 2016-2019 period.
Meanwhile, the Company believes that the appointment of Badri Narayanan, who has extensive experience at the global level, will significantly strengthen the company to continue to win the market in Indonesia.
Badri Narayanan joined Unilever in 2000. During his 20 years career with Unilever, Badri has worked in the Sales and Customer Area, Regional Brands, Excellent Customer Development and Operations, as well as Director of Regional Customer Development, both at the local, regional and global levels. Badri's last two positions were as Global Vice President, B2B e-Commerce and Route to Market based in India.
In addition, Badri also has strong general management knowledge, leadership experience in various sales and marketing positions in various geographic areas, at least in the 20 countries where Unilever operates. Badri holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from Madras University and completed his education in management at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and Stanford University.
