Fractured Neckbone, Elementary School Student Victim Of Beating In Musi Rawas, South Sumatra Treated In ICU Lubuk Linggau Hospital

PALEMBANG - An elementary school (SD) student in Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra, who is suspected of being a victim of a beating is now being treated intensively in the ICU room of Dr Shobirin Hospital, Lubuk Linggau City.

The victim of AFS (12), a fifth grader at the Lubuk Ngin State Elementary School, Selangit District, Musi Rawas Regency, was reportedly unconscious or in a coma because he was beaten by a schoolmate. The victim suffered a fracture in the neck.

The victim's mother, Novikawati (41) in Musi Rawas, said that the incident that happened to her child happened on Monday, October 10 in her classroom. After being identified by the teacher, the victim was immediately rushed to the nearest health center.

However, because he was worried that something serious would happen to his son, he was immediately taken to the ICU DR Shobirin Lubuk Linggau.

"He was treated for several days. My child is in a coma, the doctor diagnosed that there is a fracture in my child's neck and must have surgery in Palembang," he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 14.

Novikawati explained that her child was beaten by four people, three of whom were the victim's classmate and one male was the victim's underclassman.

"I don't really know what happened, but according to his friends, there were four people who beat him at that time," he said.

The alleged perpetrators locked the victim in the classroom, then someone grabbed the victim's hand, strangled her neck and then beat her.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Musi Rawas District Education Office, Irwan Efendy, said that his party had received information regarding the alleged beating. Disdik is investigating the incident with the school.

"It is being discussed with the school," said Irwan.
