Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hopes World Superbike Event In Mandalika Encourages Indonesian Tourism Exposure
JAKARTA - In preparation for the Mandalika 2021 World Superbike (WSBK) event, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto directly inspected the readiness of facilities and infrastructure at the Mandalika International Street Circuit.
The Mandalika Circuit has a length of 4.3 km with 17 turns, coupled with natural views of the hills and spectacular blue sea panoramas. The construction of the circuit uses the latest asphalt technology, namely Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA), making it one of the circuits that can offer a speed of 330 km per hour while still having a high level of safety for drivers.
This circuit is 100 percent ready and currently the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) is focusing on completing the construction of circuit support facilities, including the Pit Building, Paddock, medical facility and Race Control Building.
Prior to the Mandalika Circuit, Airlangga saw the readiness of infrastructure at Lombok International Airport. This airport facility development project includes Terminal and Landside facilities. Then, Airside facilities were also built, which consisted of runway extensions, and the development of airside facilities (apron and RET).
"Hopefully all the renovation processes can be completed before the 2021 World Superbike event in Mandalika. Because, the airport is one of the main entrances for all parties involved, including the spectators of this magnificent event. The capacity of this airport can accept 7 million passengers per year," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga in an official statement received by the editors.
Access from the airport to the Mandalika SEZ will also be faster and more convenient, it only takes about 20 minutes with the readiness of the 17.3 kilometer BIL-Mandalika Bypass. In addition, the Kuta-Kruak provincial road also plans to increase its capacity.
In addition to the airport, Lembar Harbor is also prepared to be the entry point for people and goods from Java and Bali. Gili Mas Harbor is prepared to support the accessibility of passengers from the sea either by cruise or private boats and can accommodate access to large ships.
Other supporting facilities that cannot be ruled out include lodging, hospitals, ports, and road capacity building. In the Mandalika area, currently there are around 700 hotel rooms, and if added to the hotels around the area, there are around 11,162 rooms.
NTB Province will also be the first referral hospital to support the implementation of WSBK, currently preparing for the construction of a helipad as a prerequisite for the 2021 WSBK. In addition to the NTB Provincial Hospital, the Mandalika international hospital is also continuing to accelerate its completion to support the implementation of the event.
"The WSBK event at the Mandalika SEZ will of course provide extraordinary exposure to domestic tourism. This is the second largest project after Nusa Dua, a land bank that has been controlled by ITDC of 1175 hectares," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga.
